Description

Crispy, golden taquitos filled with seasoned chicken or beef make the perfect handheld snack or appetizer. Easy to prepare and irresistibly crunchy, these taquitos are a crowd favorite!


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken or beef

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)

  • 1/2 cup diced onions

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1/2 tsp cumin

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 12 small corn or flour tortillas

  • Oil, for frying (or cooking spray for baking)


Instructions

  • Mix Filling:
    Combine shredded meat, cheese, onions, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.

  • Prepare Tortillas:
    Warm tortillas to make them pliable.

  • Assemble Taquitos:
    Place 2–3 tbsp filling on each tortilla and roll tightly.

  • Cook:

    • Fry: Heat oil in a skillet and fry taquitos seam-side down until golden and crispy (about 2–3 minutes per side).

    • Or Bake: Place taquitos on a baking sheet, spray with cooking spray, and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15–20 minutes until crispy, turning halfway.

  • Serve:
    Serve hot with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream.

  • For a healthier option, bake instead of frying.

  • Swap chicken for beef, pork, or beans for variety.

  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce for extra heat.
