Description

For the Bars:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp almond extract (optional)

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

For the Frosting:

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Food coloring and sprinkles (optional)


Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.

  • Make Dough:
    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Add flour, baking powder, and salt; mix until combined.

  • Bake Bars:
    Press dough evenly into the pan. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.

  • Make Frosting:
    Beat butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla; beat until fluffy. Add food coloring if desired.

  • Frost & Serve:
    Spread frosting over cooled bars. Top with sprinkles, cut into squares, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

  • Almond extract adds depth of flavor but is optional.
