Enjoy a comforting classic with this Old Fashioned Black Raspberry Crisp. Juicy black raspberries baked under a buttery, crunchy topping create a delightful dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

5 cups fresh or frozen black raspberries 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine black raspberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Stir gently and transfer to a greased baking dish. In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add cold butter pieces and use a pastry cutter or fingers to blend until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the berries. Bake for 40-45 minutes until topping is golden brown and berries are bubbly. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Use frozen raspberries if fresh are unavailable; thaw and drain excess juice. For extra crunch, add chopped nuts to the topping.
