Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup

  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (optional)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cook the Beef:
    In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until fully browned. Drain excess fat. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder if using.

  3. Mix the Base:
    Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and mixed vegetables. Cook for 2–3 minutes, then remove from heat.

  4. Assemble Casserole:
    Spread the beef mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top. Arrange tater tots in a single layer over everything.

  5. Bake:
    Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until tots are crispy and golden.

  6. Serve:
    Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
