Ingredients
-
8 oz penne or pasta of choice
-
12 oz smoked sausage (andouille or kielbasa), sliced
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
-
3 garlic cloves, minced
-
1/2 cup diced onion
-
1 cup heavy cream
-
1/2 cup chicken broth
-
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
Salt & pepper, to taste
-
Optional: chopped parsley or red pepper flakes for garnish
Instructions
-
Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and set aside.
-
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sausage and sauté until browned.
-
Add onion and garlic; cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
-
Sprinkle in Cajun seasoning, then pour in cream and chicken broth. Stir and simmer for 3–4 minutes.
-
Add Parmesan, stir until melted and sauce thickens slightly.
-
Toss in cooked pasta and mix to coat. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Garnish with parsley or red pepper flakes if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
-
Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter version.
-
Add bell peppers or spinach for extra veggies and color.
-
Adjust Cajun seasoning to your spice preference — some blends are saltier than others.
