Description
These copycat whiskey-glazed sesame chicken strips are packed with bold flavor. Crispy strips of chicken are tossed in a sticky, sweet, and savory whiskey glaze, then topped with sesame seeds and scallions for the perfect restaurant-style meal at home.
Ingredients
**For the Chicken Strips:**
1 1/2 lbs chicken tenders
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cornstarch
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
Vegetable oil for frying
**For the Whiskey Glaze:**
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup whiskey
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)
**For Garnish:**
1 tbsp sesame seeds
2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
1. Place chicken tenders in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
2. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
3. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
4. Dredge each chicken strip in the flour mixture and fry until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

6. To make the glaze, heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft, then add garlic and cook briefly.
7. Pour in whiskey and cook for 2–3 minutes to reduce.
8. Stir in brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
9. Mix cornstarch and water, then stir into the glaze. Cook until thickened, then remove from heat.

Notes
You can bake or air-fry the chicken strips for a lighter version.
