Description

These Cheesesteak Style Sloppy Joes take everything you love about Philly cheesesteaks—savory beef, sautéed peppers, melty cheese—and combine it with the comfort of a classic sloppy joe. It’s a fun, flavorful fusion the whole family will love!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground sirloin)

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced

  • 1 small red bell pepper, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ cup beef broth

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 4 slices provolone or American cheese

  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and bell peppers, sauté for 4–5 minutes until soft.

  • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart, about 5–6 minutes.

  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, beef broth, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.

  • Lay cheese slices over the meat mixture, cover, and let melt for 1–2 minutes. Stir to combine.

  • Spoon the cheesy meat mixture onto toasted buns. Serve warm!

Notes

  • Try using hoagie rolls for a more authentic Philly-style vibe.

  • Swap provolone with mozzarella or pepper jack for extra zip.

  • Add mushrooms for a heartier bite or caramelized onions for sweetness.
